The Dalai Lama is the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism and a global symbol of peace, compassion, and non-violence. The title “Dalai Lama” means “Ocean of Wisdom”, and it is traditionally given to the highest spiritual teacher of the Gelug (Yellow Hat) school of Tibetan Buddhism.
The current 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, is one of the most respected religious figures of our time. Born in 1935 in Taktser, Tibet, he was recognized at the age of two as the reincarnation of his predecessor, the 13th Dalai Lama.
